Overview:
The book of Lamentations records the grief of the author (likely the prophet Jeremiah) over the destruction of Jerusalem. He lamented the people's punishment and relied on God's mercy for their restoration.
At the end of this world, there won't be enough oceans to hold all the tears shed over humanity's sin and the resulting consequences. In this book, Jeremiah cried out because of his people's refusal to serve only the true God. Yet, how many tears do believers in Jesus Christ shed for those who are lost? As you read through Lamentations, ask God to give you a heart for those people around you who don't know Christ.
