Lamentations
Overview:
The book of Lamentations records the grief of the author (likely the prophet Jeremiah) over the destruction of Jerusalem. He lamented the people's punishment and relied on God's mercy for their restoration.
At the end of this world, there won't be enough oceans to hold all the tears shed over humanity's sin and the resulting consequences. In this book, Jeremiah cried out because of his people's refusal to serve only the true God. Yet, how many tears do believers in Jesus Christ shed for those who are lost? As you read through Lamentations, ask God to give you a heart for those people around you who don't know Christ.
Outline:
I. Lord, Look at Our Condition ( 1:1-22)
II. Lord, Your People Have Sinned (2:1-22)
III. Lord, You are Faithful ( 3:1-66)
IV. Lord, Your Punishment is Severe (4:1-22)
V. Lord, Please Remember Us (5:1-22)
Scannable Facts:
Author: Anonymous, but probably Jeremiah
Time Written: Most likely soon after the fall of Jerusalem in 586 B.c.
Theme to Note: God's judgment brings pain and suffering
Notable Women: Women who have suffered tragedy and grief

Please take a step back to Isaiah 40:31 - Reader Request
Alright everybody. This is where the "learning together" comes in...
A reader has asked that I post Isaiah 40:31 because she would like help understanding the verse's symbolism. Please post your comments offering insight on the meaning of this scripture.
The NIV version says: but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
